Enrichment of Platinum Group Elements in Lower Cambrian Polymetallic Black Shale, SE Yangtze Block, China

چکیده
Platinum group elements (PGEs) occur mainly in basic–ultrabasic igneous rocks and are concentrated by the differentiation crystallization of magma. Thin polymetallic layers including Ni, Mo, V, PGEs, rare-earth widely developed lower Cambrian black shales southern China. The PGE contents such may not be economically significant but still unusually enriched. enrichment mechanisms have been studied, here compositions Shuidong (Nayong) Niuchang (Weng’an) sections SE Yangtze block China were determined, results compared with published data for region. Results indicate that PGEs enriched layers, whereas surrounding country barren. ΣPGE Ni–Mo deposits generally than V deposits. distribution patterns similar to those rocks, indicating played a role enrichment. Oceanic hypoxia during Sinian–Cambrian transition resulted production large amounts organic matter H 2 S ocean. When high-salinity brine reached ocean bottom, rapid changes Eh–pH conditions caused metals at sediment–seawater interface, this was later enhanced diagenesis.

متن کاملChancelloriids of the Cambrian Burgess Shale
The cactus-like chancelloriids from the Middle Cambrian Burgess Shale are revised on the basis of Walcott’s (1920) original collections and new material containing several hundred specimens collected by Royal Ontario Museum field expeditions from 1975 to 2000. Walcott’s interpretation of chancelloriids as sponges was based on a misinterpretation of the dermal coelosclerites as embedded sponge-t...

BACKGROUND Abundant fossils from the Ediacaran and Cambrian showing cnidarian grade grossly suggest that cnidarian diversification occurred earlier than that of other eumetazoans. However, fossils of possible soft-bodied polyps are scanty and modern corals are dated back only to the Middle Triassic, although molecular phylogenetic results support the idea that anthozoans represent the first maj...
متن کاملDistribution of platinum group elements in road dust in the Beijing metropolitan area, China.
Dust samples collected from the Beijing metropolitan area (China) were evaluated to determine the distribution and the concentration of platinum group elements (PGEs). The dust particles that were smaller than 100 mesh size fraction (150 microm) were analyzed after aqua regia digestion. Concentrations of Pt, Rh, and Pd were found to be between 3.96 and 356.3 ng/g, 2.76 and 97.11 ng/g, and 0.1 a...
